Gwangju University Shares Young Dreams with You
Taking much pride in its brilliantly rapid growth, we celebrated Gwangju University's 21st anniversary in 2001. Gwangju University is now acknowledged as the most prestigious private academy in Honam area. For about 15,000 students, it offers 25 master's and doctoral courses of the three graduate schools (including the Social Welfare Graduate School starting in March of 2002), and 35 undergraduate courses of 11 divisions and 7 departments. Especially, the dormitory, completed in 2000, outstands with the best facilities in the nation. As appointed through the fair and transparent employment procedures, Gwangju University faculty members are all highly qualified scholars who are admired for their academic achievement and contribution to the community. Also, our students are honoring the school with their excellent outcomes of various competitions. My life has been devoted to the development of Gwangju University. And, I see a bright future unfolding before us, for all of our professors, students, and staff members are dutifully carrying out their tasks and working in concert for the development of the school. We will keep going further and do our best to make our school a home of the inspirational education for the new millennium. For this, all of my insights and wisdom will be devoted to the school as before. Gwangju University is a young university that has unlimited possibilities. It will continually grow to be a university of worldwide reputation. I hope you will share a bright future and young dreams with open, young, Gwangju University.

As a prestigious private academy with the best educational environment, Gwangju University is cultivating capable workers who will lead the age of the global village in infinite competition. Following the founder Dr. Kim, In Gon's philosophy that the nation's prosperity depends on the integrated and able workers, Gwangju University has prepared the state-of-the-art educational environment for them in the magnificently beautiful campus. Celebrating its 21st anniversary, Gwangju University is still young but is gaining a reputation year by year in Honam area with its innovational commitment to realizing creative plans and will to raise capable people. Gwangju University's glorious future is promised by the excellent faculty noted home and abroad for their academic achievements and educational devotion; by 1,5000 students gifted in various fields; by the faithful staff determined to serve the school; and by over 40,000 alumni working hard as leaders in every walk of life. I am proud to say that Gwangju University is a truly student-centered university. It strives to establish the educational system that serves students' needs and to provide the best welfare facilities for them. For this, Gwangju University has already completed the dormitory that accommodates 1,200 people with the perfect LAN networking and air-conditioning system. And, soon we will construct an electronic library and a leisure and sports complex.
